Nigerian Police arraign 2 men for stealing $14 million from church account...

The Ogun State Police force has arraigned two men named Akapo Paul and Johnson Shorinnolu for allegedly stealing $14million from the accounts belonging to the West African Christian Mission in 2015.

They men aged 73 and 63 respectively are both facing charges of stealing and conspiracy and have appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court.

According to a report by Vanguard, the Prosecutor Abdulkareem Mustapha said the accused committed the offences sometime in 2015. They allegedly conspired to steal 14 million dollars as they are both signatories to the bank account of the mission.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.I. Adelaja, admitted them to bail in the sum of N2 million each with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties must be residents within the court’s jurisdiction, gainfully employed, swear to an affidavit of means and show evidence of tax payments to Ogun State Government. The case was then adjourned till May 20 for hearing.
