SPORT: What if you were Khompela?
Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, couldn’t believe his side’s 3-1 Soweto derby defeat against hot-and-cold Orlando Pirates at FNB stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams have another meeting this Saturday in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout as they both
look to secure a place in the final. If you were Komphela, how would you explain the team’s shocking 3-1 defeat to their arch-rivals?
Issa Sarr scored the opener for Bucs but it didn’t last long as Erick Mathoho cancelled the lead just before half-time. Second half goals from Ayanda Gcaba and Thamsanqa Gabuza gave the Parktown-based club an impressive win against their bitter rivals, who were expected to overwhelm coach Eric Tinkler’s charges. However, the opposite happened and it could have been worse, had it not been for Itumeleng Khune’s brilliant saves.
In this month’s “Just have a laugh” we ask you, our readers, to put yourselves in coach Komphela’s shoes and try to explain the team’s first loss of the season. The funniest comment will feature in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma in the Supporters Club page.
