An Irish man shot dead while on a family holiday in Majorca was killed in a case of mistaken identity in a suspected gangland attack.
The victim, named locally as 40-year-old Trevor O'Neill, was murdered at the Costa de la Calma resort, around 15 miles from the capital Palma, at around 9pm on Wednesday.
He was killed outside a supermarket while reportedly with his wife and his three young children.
Mr O'Neill, a council worker, is thought to have stopped to talk on the street with the intended target of the attack when several shots were fired into his back.
Paramedics then tried to resuscitate him at the scene but he died soon afterwards in hospital in Palma.
Police are said to be hunting up to three assailants who fled after the killing.
Security sources have told Sky News there is no doubt that it was a case of mistaken identity linked to an ongoing gangland feud between the Kinahan and Hutch families in Dublin.
The murder brings the number of victims to 10.
A bar owner at the Spanish resort, who did not want to be named, told the Irish Independent: "I heard three shots, but there were apparently four, and then saw a man with a blue hoodie pulled tight over his face run by.
"I didn't realise at first they were guns. I thought it was kids playing with firecrackers.
"But then I heard people screaming and people came rushing into the bar to seek refuge."

A spokeswoman for Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the shooting and is providing consular assistance.
Daithi de Roiste, chairman of Dublin's joint policing committee and a councillor for Drimnagh, told RTE: "Trevor was a good guy, he worked for Dublin City Council.
"We have a community now saying this can happen to absolutely anybody at any time whether it is in Dublin or whether you are on your holidays.
"I think it is really out of control now with this feud."
Tensions between the Hutch and Kinahan cartels escalated after an audacious murder during a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel in Dublin in February.
A five-man gang, three of them dressed as members of a police SWAT team, burst into the hotel and opened fire with AK-47 assault rifles - killing one man and injuring others.
Gerry Hutch, who is known as "The Monk", is suspected of masterminding the two biggest armed robberies in the history of the Irish state.
Christie Kinahan, now based on the Costa del Sol, has drug and gun convictions in Ireland, Belgium and The Netherlands.
In April this year, Michael Barr was shot dead by two gunmen who burst into his pub, the Sunset House, in Dublin.
The 35-year-old from Strabane, County Tyrone, was hit up to three times and died at the scene.
It is thought the shooting was linked to the feud between the two families and their associates.
It is not certain if Mr Barr was the intended target - or if a member of the Hutch family was in the pub at the time.
The same month, a homeless man was also shot dead in a case of mistaken identity in Dublin city centre.
