The Nasarawa state House of Assembly has raised alarm over the emergence of a militia group in the state called the ‘new Ombatse group’.
The speaker Nasarawa state House of Assembly Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated this in Lafia reading the resolutions of the assembly in respond to a matter of public importance raised by some members during the house proceedings.
He said the house has resolved that the state government in collaboration with security agencies in the state be proactive towards checkmating the activities of the said group called ‘the new Ombatse group’ urgently.
“Government and security agencies should ensure that serious security measures are put in place to check the development in Nasarawa Eggon local government area. Of the state concerning this group”, He said.
Earlier, Hon.Muhammed Muluku-Agga (PDP) representing Nasarawa-Eggon East raised an alarm over the activities of a group of persons calling themselves the ‘new ombatse’ in his constituency.
He expressed worry given the ugly experience witnessed in the state concerning the activities of a militia group called Ombatse in the recent past in which many lives and properties were lost.
It would be recalled that in 2013 this same militia group launched an attack and killed 87 men and officers of Nigeria police in Alakyo ,Lafia local government of the state which led to the set up of the commission of enquiry and indict some men from Eggon extraction.
