A cyclist has told how he tried to save the Russell Square stabbing victim as she lay dying on the pavement.
Fernando, 40, said he was stopped by distraught
witnesses who told him the victim had been stabbed in the back by a
"chubby man dressed in shorts and a T-shirt".
He saw two other bleeding victims at the scene before police arrived.

He said: "I was cycling by and people screamed at me to stop. It was a Spanish family who approached me.
"It was a mother and father and two sisters.
"Then I saw a white lady, in her sixties, slumped against the railings.
"She had her head in a Spanish woman's lap, the lady, who was trying to keep her alive by talking to her.
"They were not related, I think the Spanish family were just passing by.
"At that point, I just thought she had collapsed.
"They asked me to call 999 and I called 999 and said that I thought the lady had collapsed.
"I said I was in Russell Square and they asked for a postcode. I rushed to a bar and I asked for the postcode.

"They said I don't have a postcode, so I rushed to try another place. Then someone from the bar rushed out and told me.
"Then two policemen came and that was when they realised and I realised she was bleeding.
"I said on the phone to the ambulance, 'I think she's definitely been stabbed'.
"She had been stabbed in the back. She was bleeding.

"One policeman tried to do first aid and they were still asking for an ambulance.
"He said 'please ask them to come now'. I saw other victims.
"There was an English man who was white, I'd say around 45.
"He had been stabbed in the side.
"Then there was another lady. I didn't know her nationality but I think she was white. She was in her twenties.
"She had been stabbed in her arm.
"The old lady had been stabbed in the back.
"I think the man must have stabbed more people before that but then I realised three people had been stabbed.
"The policeman realised it too.
"These people weren't saying, 'I have been stabbed'. They must have been all in shock.
"Eventually the ambulance service arrived.
"The lady from the Spanish family told me that the guy had passed by, running, stabbing people.
"They said he had been wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt and was chubby.
"They said they thought he was white but he was covering his face like this (with arm) I think as he was stabbing people like this.
"Apparently he wasn't shouting anything.
"They saw the knife. Later someone told me he had been detained.
"It is not nice to see someone dying.
"I am still in shock."
